Okay, there have been much abuzz about the organ trading saga which happened a couple of weeks ago, there were much of a "hoo-ha" as to whether or not Singapore should legalise on the organ trading act, where two people were jailed/fined recently for attempting to sell their organs.
Thought that such a story is pretty interesting, so shall share it with you people. Personally, i'm against organ trading, if Singapore were to legalise the Organ Trading Act, i guess it would actually draw the gap difference between the rice and poor even wider. If such an act was to be implemented, would it only mean that the rich who are able to afford and buy the organs are able to live, and those who are not as well off or rather those who cannot afford can only wait for the grim reaper. " In the eyes of a doctor, everyone should be treated equally", if such an act really was to be in place, than where does the above quote stand ?
This morning, i read another article where it stated that in Spain or Norway, most people agreed to organ donation, because the culture there is that the people there deeply know the importance of one having to wait for an organ and the anxiety and fear the patient/ loved ones go through. Also, another point would be that they actually take organs from patients who are over 60years of age, and if i'm not wrong, Singapore does not do that. By not doing so, aren't we discounting ourselves of many more chances, speaking from a point of a patient that is.
It's really a tough decision, that's why i see the point of debate for such a motion. Well, i guess the morale of the story is to take care of your health, and not let yourself fall into such a predicament.
" If all we see is happiness, all we get will be happiness "
