Saturday, August 30

Okay, so it was finally Sentosa outing after a "nong nong" time, the turn-out was alright, although was hoping for more people to turn up, but we still made do with the numbers and had fun! So there was Charmaine, Joanna, Mag, Yaping, Ahern, Zongyang, Bert, Azri, Hendra, Mansur & Hilman.

The weather looked promising when we met up, which was about to 12.00pm at Harbourfront, it was all bright and sunny, and the perfect weather to head for the beach. So we reached Sentosa at about 12.30pm, walked to the beach and found a spot and put our things down, and the whole place was pretty packed. We started playing beach volleyball, soccer and frisbee, than we all got tired and stuffs, and traded that for captain's ball. Rested awhile, and continued playing, than went to wade in the water, and started taking photos and stuffs! hahaha! The sky suddenly turned dark, and it started pouring, so we quickly packed our stuffs and headed for the changing room, which was packed to the brim with people, it was packed till the point that we had to queue for around 30minutes for a bath, that was how bad it was. Left Sentosa after that, split with the group and headed for Makansutra Gluttons Bay for dinner.

Soon Lee Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee - 8.0/10

I'm not usually a fan of fried hokkien mee, because in my impression, hokkien prawn mee is usually either too soggy or too dry, and there ain't really alot of ingredients except for prawns or sotongs, so not really interested in it. However this time a round, i would say i've taken a liking for the noodles, the noodles is moist however not to soggy, so when you bite it there's still texture in it, and next the flavour of the noodle is very good, you can taste the stock they actually use it to broil the noodles before serving, the prawns are fresh as well, and the best part is the chilli, the sambal chilli is spicy enough and you can taste bits and pieces of shrimps which gives the whole noodle an added spice and flavour into it.

Oyster Egg - 7.5/ 10

I'm a huge fan of oyster eggs/ omelettes since i don't know when. Each time i see a new hawker selling oyster egg, i would defitnetly give it a try, and of course i know i should cut down on such indulgences as it will increase my chances of contracting hepatitis, however being such a lover of food, i can't resist the temptation. And i guess it's all worth it, the oyster egg was fried till golden brown and the egg is not very greasy like how certain hawkers cook, however it was fluffy at the same time, i think it's very good and the only area of improvement i would say would be to use fresher oysters, some oysters i tasted were not that fresh, and it isn't really that pleasing to the tastebuds

Alhambra Padang Satay - 6.0/10

I had huge expectations for this stall as i saw the numerous awards and tv reviews pasted outside the stall, so i thought that the quality of the food would be of some standard. However i was disappointed, i paid $7.00 for 10 satays, a mixture of chicken and mutton, although it's abit more expensive than other places, i thought i should give it a try. Firstly, the satay gravy was too sweet, it was more of a sweet sauce rather than peanut sauce, perhaps they are trying to cater to foreigners who do not take such spicy food, however i feel that they should not condone on the original quality of the food. Next the chicken satay was alright, the meat was alittle dry though, but overall it still made the mark. The mutton on the hand could not be said the same, some parts of it were either uncooked or overcooked which made certain parts tasted very hard and unchewable, the marination is again too sweet and it totally covers the original taste of the mutton.
