"Cause you had a bad day You're taking one down You sing a sad song just to turn it around ".

Well, it was really Monday Blues for me. I seemed to have gotten on the wrong side of the bed, and things went wrong wrong wrong today. It all started last night, i turn off the light, and wanted to lie on bed, somehow i lost my balance and i fell off the bed, my elbow crashed to the floor and it was freaking pain!

Woke up this morning, and found out there was no more shampoo, made to with those hotels' instead. Nearly boarded the wrong bus again, as the number "52" and "162" were really similar if you look from far. Reached school, had a terrible stomachache, kept running to and from the toilet, i guess i went to the toilet at least 4times within 40mintues in school. The pain was like a mixture of stomachache and gastric, the pain was really terrible and went home during first breakout to rest. W45m, thanks for those messages of concern, i'm feeling much better now. However the best part of the blues hasn't just ended yet, in fact i found out only 20minutes ago. I've gotten another D grade for science, wonderful ain't it! Anyway i've emailed the facilitator, in hope that she would give me reasonable and justifiable response.

Dear Joace,

I’m Kin Shen from W45M. I would like an explanation regarding the grades that I’ve been getting in class. I’ve gotten 2 “D” grades out of the three lessons and I’m pretty appalled by these kind of marking scheme. Frankly speaking, I’ve not gotten a D grade before in science module for the first semester. I know I should not compare as different facilitators grade the students differently, but I would like to know the reasons for giving me a D.

You included the following into your marking scheme,

Class/Team participation:D+

Learning attitude:D+
Presentation:C
Self-eval:D+
Peer eval:C
RJ:D+

I’m just puzzled by the fact that I tried to make an improvement from last week, and participated more actively even though at some parts i was pretty lost, i still got a D grade. Shouldn’t that be a factor to consider of motivating students when grading. By giving such grades each and every week, don’t you think that instead of spurring the student on to work even harder to achieve better results, it would actually have a counter-effect and the student might feel demoralised and give up for the particular module.

Furthermore, i think that the way you spoke to certain teams during the presentation should not be called for. I remembered you mentioned something like “your team has nothing worth for me to ask” to one of the teams. I think that by doing that, you’re actually not giving the due credit for the team. No matter how sloppy/ shabbily the presentation might be, it’s still a group effort, and it’s worth a commendation on the effort, there’s no such thing as “nothing worth to ask”, in that case if I were allowed to question, what in your stance is something that is “worth to ask”?

I understand that it’s not easy being a facilitator, as you have to grade many students and give each the reasonable and logical explanation. Therefore I hope that, I would be given a reasonable and justifiable response as to the marking scheme of the grading system.

Thank You,
Chan Kin Shen

It's only the start of the week, yet it seems that obstacles are stacking up one after another. Sometimes, i wonder if i'm over-paranoid or overly-sensitive. But somehow, when things start to go wrong, you start to question yourself. It's as though it's a trait in me, i always self-questioned myself. Ohmygod, i'm really done with today, it's really a bad bad day! Let's hope tomorrow would bring a better and brighter day.

Adios!
