Technology Brings Us Closer?

"Kor-kor" called me last night at about 1.00am from Denmark, and he was telling me about his grumbles about the luggage and he's on the way to Amsterdam. It's been such a long time since i heard his voice, haven't been webcaming with him for like a month or so already. Talked for quite awhile last night, and i really envy him now, going to all the places around europe. And within a blink, it's been five months since he left, and he's returning back real soon. At first i thought i would have the "missing" feeling of him not around at home and stuffs like that, but with the webcam around, i think it really helps alot in terms of communication.

Indeed, with advancement of technology like the internet helped us to pull people-people closer, the world is like a smaller place. However, i was thinking that such tools might help us bridge gaps, on the other hand it might widen ties too. As a "virtual" world surrounds us, it's hard to imagine whether the person we're talking to is showing real emotions, we have emoticons to aid us, but is it surreal or real, it's really up to one's guess.
