Money Makes The World Go Round

So this is the summer transfer season for major soccer leagues around the world, and we have been seeing record-breaking transfers week after week, with the most eye-catching club to be of course, Real Madrid, which the term "economic downturn" appears not to be in it's dictionary after splashing huge amounts to secure signings of C.Ronaldo, Kaka, Abidol, Benzema. I was pretty shocked actually, to see the amount of money being spent on these players, and question to myself sometimes, are they really worth the amount?

It goes back to the same old topic that money is the root of all evil, and everyone would want a chance to earn big bucks, who wouldn't right? I've just read news online about a possible £40m transfer move for Chelsea's skipper John Terry to Manchester City, which could see him earning a possible £250,000 wage a week. I've been a Chelsea fan since like 3-4 years ago, and to me John Terry is far more than just a player in the club, he's the skipper, one of the best central defenders in the game, the most influential player in the club and basically he's like a pillar of the club. I really hope that he would stay in Chelsea, he's been one of my favourite players in the club with the likes of Lampard and Joe Cole.

It's really funny sometimes, to see how much clubs are willing to splurge and "poach" players with enormous transfer bids, hopefully this John Terry saga will end real soon, and i hope to see him wearing the Chelsea jersey again during the 09/10 season.
